While I know it's good for the dogs to take a break from training once in a while, it does get frustrating to watch my friends to the south out training through the winter. Typically our snow gets too deep, the sheep build paths which neither they or the dogs want to leave (for good reason, it's hard to move through chest deep snow), and it makes for bad dog work. This year I'm trying something new. I saw a video last winter of a dog trialler in Sweden or Norway, flattening their field. I explained the concept to Travis and my good neighbour Don and they managed to build me something that might work, for next to no money in case it didn't! I went out and used what I'm calling my field Zamboni yesterday and...success!
