I imported Star in 2016. Star is stylish, has good pace and nice feel for her sheep. She is very much a team player and took to working with me easily. She is very handy for practical work and is an asset during lambing. Away from stock she is a real sweetheart and a pleasure to have around. She may be the nicest Border Collie I'll be fortunate enough to own.
Star and I have had a great run together. Unfortunately she injured herself at the end of 2022, and then required a couple of surgeries late 2023. While she had a good season in 2024 with several placings, she never fully bounced back. I've decided to retire her early. She still helps out, and is a perfect dog for Travis when he needs help. She also LOVES the fact that I'm not as concerned with her "figure" as she now has regular "Cheezies and sci fi privileges".
SF Jake CBCA 21027
Imp.Jim ABC 495796 x Dot ABC 460871
DNA clear via Optimal selection
South Side Ranch Open trial champion 2024
Jake was bred by Shannon Fritz who ranches in North Dakota, by Joni Tietjen's Jim and out of Shannon's Dot. Jake is a forward dog, who reads his stock well. He is a real team player and has quickly become a useful dog for practical work. Away from stock he is just lovely to have around.
Moss CBCA 21029
SF Jake CBCA 21027 x Star (registered as Megan) CBCA 14867
CEA carrier via Optimal Selection
Red Lodge Nursery 1st place 2024
Moss was born right here. He's by Jake out of Star. Moss is one of the nicest dogs I've started in ages. He started early, and picks things up quickly. I trialled him a tiny bit as a yearling and he showed me he is very capable - with a nursery win and multiple placings.
He's not two yet, so I'm trying hard to just enjoy him, and not rush things. Around the house he's a real dork, and keeps us entertained in an easy to live with, and adorable way.

Jag aka Maggie/Magpie CBCA 17310
King CBCA 1173 x Soot CBCA 15202
EOD carrier via Optimal Selection
Lots of wins and placements with Dennis Gellings.
I don't normally buy trained dogs. I happened to be in the right place at the right time when Jag became available. It would seem she showed up just when I needed her. Jag is a very accomplished trial dog, with loads of practical experience. Originally I thought she might suit a friend of mine who needed a dog. I found her another (perfect) dog and for some reason decided I'd take Jag anyway...to play with. She's LOADS of fun to work. She's also adorable. So...she's staying. She's also taken the pressure off Moss to be my second Open dog (with Star retiring earlier than expected). It would seem she showed up just when I needed her (with Star retiring earlier than expected). She also happens to be Star's granddaughter...so perhaps it's written in the stars? Right now we are just getting to know each other, but we are getting along VERY well.
